Mekaal Hasan and musicians request financial support after his studio burns down

In an unfortunate incident this week, Mekaal Hassan’s legendary Digital Helms Studios in Lahore caught fire and was utterly reduced to ashes and wreckage. Caused by an electric malfunction, the fire left all inhabitants, including Hasan himself, running for their lives, while the place and its infrastructure all crumbled.

According to Hasan, the grave tragedy burned everything inside the control room, including instruments, while air conditioners in other rooms either melted or got brushed by the fire and smoke.

 

Following this incident, the producer has now appealed to everyone to help him raise funds to rebuild this iconic studio.The producer has also set up a GoFundMe account to collect donations from fans worldwide to help rebuild the space and keep the sanctity of Digital Helms Studios alive.

He has also asked the music fraternity to spread the word, and some prominent names in the music industry including people who have recorded at the studio have either donated or come forward to ask people to donate. According to Hasan, he has requested musicians like Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Jal the Band, etc to pitch in.

Artists like Bilal Maqsood, Ahmed Ali Butt, Fawad Khan, and Sajad Ali have come forward to share their support.

[Mekaal Hasan] is an artist who has made Pakistan proud not only through his own music but also by producing some of the greatest mainstream hits of Pakistani pop music in the past two three decades. Some of the artists behind these tracks had actually recorded their first singles in this studio. In fact, EP recorded their album there. Mainstream acts like Atif Aslam, Junoon, Ali Noor, Ali Sethi etc and every great band or musician has been associated with this studio in the past,” Fawad Khan shared, followed by an appeal to help out the studio with donations.
